Among souvenirs and work project for next 355 days, end the Mondiali Antirazzisti

Conclusive ceremony of XIV edition of Mondiali Antirazzisti in the sport center Salvador Allende in Casalecchio di Reno (Bo) in the afternoon of Sunday July 11th , seeing as winner of Mondiali Antirazzisti coup the Association Luxembourg Against Racism. The great manifestation that since 1997 fights, through the sport and the game, against all kinds of discrimination registered among 6000 participants par day, reaching a total of 30.000 persons.

“Mondiali has always maintained a strong relationship with memory and resistance, and in 2010, kept a direct link with South Africa, because of the simultaneous running of Fifa World Cup. This year more than ever, we believed in a manifestation with popular prizes, for all, with any “supporter card”, but just with the strength of our passion”.
These are the words of Vincenzo Manco, vice president of Uisp, during the conclusive ceremony of 2010 edition of Mondiali, inside an Antiracist Square full of people, accompanying with their colours, flags, claps and songs the assignation of the various cups to winning teams, as every year at the end of the event. Award for all, as in the deepest spirit of Uisp.

The greetings of guest municipality was committed to Piero Gasperini, assessor to Sport of Casalecchio di Reno: “To keep high values of antifascism and antiracism it is always a betting, for that I thank all participants to this manifestation”.

Below the list of all teams gaining the cups that, as usually, are not just for the winners of various tournaments, but for all people make of their participation a real engagement against racism and each kind of discrimination.

Cup Mondiali Antirazzisti – Luxembourg Against Racism
Most important cup of the Mondiali, dedicated to group that during the year better distinguished for its antiracist and social activity.
Motivations: association Luxembourg Against Racism has been active since first year of Mondiali helping in the organisation of debates and in proposing contents. During the year it continuously runs sensitization activities in Europe against the racism and all kind of discrimination in football and in society.
Sébastien Louis, representing the association, declares: “this cup is dedicated to all participants, volunteers and organisers of Mondiali. We would that values of antiracism manifested during 5 days of Mondiali are kept on for 365 days”.

Cup Invisible – FURD (Football Unites Racism Divides) of Sheffield
Teams from Sheffield have been coming to the Mondiali since the first year with a group of guys from disadvantaged districts in the city. Last year, whilst coming back from the Mondiali, the mini bus transporting the team was involved in an accident where the young Ahmed Hassan lost his life. The driver, Simon Hyacinth, has been badly affected also and is now in prison for 3 months. The ‘Invisible Cup’ is dedicated to both of them and to the whole of FURD, we are sure that they will come back with us next year.

Cup Matteo Bagnaresi – Ultras Modena and Ultras Bologna
This is the ex cup Friends of Mondiali, and since two years it is dedicate to Matteo “Bagna” Bagnaresi, component of Boys Parma tragically dead on 2008.
Motivations: it is for ultras because Matteo was an ultras. Because these groups are active during the whole year against racism, honest people daily bringing values of antiracism. This cup is assigned by Matteo’s friends and parents.

Cup Kick Sexism - Roter Stein Leipzig ’99 E. V. di Lipsia
A Cup introduced two years ago, that underline a value that Mondiali want to go on about the fight against the discrimination of gender.
Motivations: more mixed team, in which women played an active role during the tournament.

Cup Antiracist Square – National Association of Italian Partisans (section of Casalecchio)
The cup is dedicated to whom worked more in spreading materials in the “Piazza Antirazzista” and in the sharing of Mondiali’s values.
Motivations: each year the Mondiali has a strong link with memory. In particular this year, in coincidence with Fifa world cup in South Africa, is important to underline the fight against apartheid on African National Congress and the connection of this freedom fight with the partisan fight against nazi-fascism.

Kilometres Cup – Sahara Saharawi Junior of Modena
The cup for the team coming from far away.
Motivation: maybe it isn’t the farthest one, but sure it is enough to merit it, also considering the spirit with they lived the tournament. One of the youngest team, Saharawi children hosted in Italy in the frame of an exchange program in Italy.

Fair Play Cup – Virtus Fans Verona
This cup is assigned each year to the team who has demonstrated a more fair play in the pitch. Motivation: they clapped to each goal, they’ve been available to help the other teams. We give to them the cup, but it is dedicated to the whole teams (and they were many) who had a fair play behaviour.

Ultrà Cup – GAV Genoa
Dedicated to whom has better interpreted the spirit of being a fan.
Motivation: they felt the Mondiali with a true fan spirit, always ready to help and work together.

Volley Tournament – Polisportiva San Precario Padova
Polisportiva San Precario won the tournament, it is a sport association active in the integration of migrants through sport and for the evaluation of the popular sport.

Cricket Tournament – Calderara di Reno
After a tournament with 10 teams, the winner is the team of Calderara composed by Pakistani people.

Rugby Tournament –Teste Ovali Rugby team from Bologna.

Female football tournament – Sorelle Bandiera and Peace This is a shared cup because at the end of the final match with the result of 2-2 they decided not to kick the penalty and share the victory.

Basket – Proodeutiki Ekriski
The winner is a team composed by fans from Salonicco.

Football:

3) Lille

Note: the winner of the football tournament – composed for the majority by Somali refugees – has inherited the name from a team came last year and composed by Rom. Once they reached the process of integration they have chosen to offer the name to the Somali as a positive witness and as a good luck for their process of inclusion.
The second team is the same who won the cricket tournament with the name Calderara.

The festival closes the curtain of an edition in which the engagement and the participation of each single person of the organisation has shown the passion for this Mondiali in parallel with the Fifa World Cup 2010. Mondiali unified the different colours of people from 60 nationalities in the same will of stay together for 5 days of sport, intercultural and struggle against discrimination.
