The DiMondi Tournament is a self-organized and itinerant soccer tournament. Now in its fourth edition, it involves 19 teams this year and will take place over six days. It is a project born with the intent to create sociality and relationships, going to undermine the social, urban, cultural barriers that limit membership and communication. The DiMondi language is the language of popular sport, able to give meaning to the experience of finding oneself to play together with the much feared “Other”, to live in a new and unsettling way the spaces of one’s city, to redefine the language codes and behavior. The tournament applies an inclusive and heterogeneous way of making football: at DiMondi the games are self-refereed and the rules can be agreed, to allow all teams to compete on equal terms and have fun on the playing fields. In addition to these modalities, the classification of the “presabbene”, linked to the modalities of being on the field, to the respect of the shared rules and to the creativity shown in taking the field reduces the competitive tension creating a cheerful and carefree game atmosphere.
The day includes: minirugby games for children (organized by Cinghiali del Setta), 5-a-side mixed football tournament, free volleyball games, basketball, an afro dance show, a rollerderby performance, a senior women’s rugby match (Cinghiale rugby and other teams), boxing competitions.
A day to remember the Resistance through popular sport.
